His only friends are his neighbor, Åsleik, a traditional fisherman-farmer, and Beyer, a gallerist who lives in the city. There, in Bjørgvin, lives another Asle, also a painter but lonely and consumed by alcohol. Asle and Asle are doppelgängers-- two versions of the same person, two versions of the same life. In this final installment of Jon Fosse's Septology, "a major work of Scandinavian fiction" (Hari Kunzru), we follow the lives of the two Asles as younger adults in flashbacks: the narrator meets his lifelong love, Ales; joins the Catholic Church; and makes a living by trying to paint away all the pictures stuck in his mind. A New Name: Septology VI-VII is a transcendent exploration of the human condition, and a radically other reading experience- -incantatory, hypnotic, and utterly unique."--|cProvided by publisher. 546 Translated from the Norwegian. 650 0 Older men|zNorway|vFiction. 650 0 Widowers|zNorway|vFiction. 650 0 Doppelgängers|zNorway|vFiction. 650 0 Friendship|zNorway|vFiction. 650 0 Identity (Psychology)|zNorway|vFiction. 650 7 Short stories, Norwegian.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01117313 650 7 Doppelgängers.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00896945 650 7 Fishers.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00926174 650 7 Identity (Psychology)|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00966892 650 7 Manners and customs.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01007815 650 7 Men.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01015978 650 7 Neighbors.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01200293 650 7 Older men.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01199154 650 7 Painters.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01050530 650 7 Widowers.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01174932 651 0 Norway|xSocial life and customs|vFiction. 651 7 Norway.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01204556 655 2 Fictional Work|0(DNLM)D022922 655 7 Fiction.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01423787 655 7 Psychological fiction.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01726481 655 7 Novels.|2lcgft 655 7 Psychological fiction.|2lcgft 700 1 Searls, Damion,|etranslator. 938 YBP Library Services|bYANK|n17457524 994 C0|bORL
