Travelers, traders, buyers, beggars, soldiers, settlers, leaders, and laborers have crossed paths here, all languages and walks of life jostling and mingling. Two thousand years of stories are waiting to be told. This wonderful collection, which is as light and dark, quirky and diverse as the capital itself, brings these stories to life by professional storyteller and long-term London resident Helen East. Drawing on oral history, folk sources, and written texts, she retells old favorites like Dick Whittington alongside glorious new discoveries, such as royal rats, Saint Uncumber, ghosts and fateful fish. With 50 beautiful illustrations, this book will charm and delight residents and visitors alike. 538 System requirements: Adobe Digital editions. 588 0 Print version record. 650 7 HISTORY / Europe / Great Britain.|2bisacsh 651 0 London (England)|vFolklore. 655 0 Electronic books. 700 1 Yedigaroff, Alex. 700 1 Gresham, Xanthe. 710 2 Freading. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aEast, Helen.|tLondon folk tales.|dStroud : History Press, 2012.|z9780752461854 (pbk.) : |w(Uk)016152412 856 40 |3Freading|uhttp://ocls.freading.com/ebooks/details/r: download/OTc4MDc1MjQ3ODQ3MA==|zDownload this title to your computer or mobile device using Freading!
