Charlie's life used to be peaceful. His tidy room was filled with books about birds and he found comfort in his daily routine. Everything changes when his father, a war correspondent, gets wounded in Afghanistan. When he sent from California to Virginia, Charlie feels obligated to travel across the country to be with him. Along the way, Charlie decides if he could try to find and classify all the birds that he and his father had wanted to see in the woods, maybe everything would go back to the way it was before.
