Summary Ray Milland stars as adventurer and soldier-of-fortune Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond who rescues lovely damsel-in-distress Phyllis Clavering (Heather Angel). A scheming acquaintance is intent on stealing her sizable inheritance and holds her captive in a stately country manor. Phyllis' brother is murdered and killers stalk Bulldog and his hapless friend Algy Longworth (Reginald Denny). Scotland Yard arrives to unravel the mystery, but not before Capt. Drummond faces the challenge of his life. Bulldog Drummond Escapes is the only entry in the successful Paramount series starring the legendary and dashing Milland (The Lost Weekend) as Drummond. Based on writer/creator H.C. McNeile's play, this first in the eight part series is arguably the finest with believably menacing villains and plenty of action.
