Southwest Branch will be closed on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26 for replacement of the HVAC unit. The book drop will remain open and we plan to resume normal operating hours on Wednesday, March 27.

Summary Thomas Powell was probably born in England in about 1600. He emigrated and settled in Virginia. His son, Nathaniel, married Lucretia and they had six known children. Descendant, Samuel Powell (1791-1870), married Jane Sargent, daughter of Abraham Sarjeant and Elizabeth Dove, in about 1817 in Greene County, Tennessee. They had seven children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
