Summary "In pursuit of an author who could help get her brother published, Rebecca Lane stays at Swanford Abbey, a grand hotel rumored to be haunted. It is there she encounters Sir Frederick-the man who broke her heart. When a mysterious death occurs, Rebecca is one of the suspects, and Fredrick is torn between his feelings for her and his search for the truth"-- Provided by publisher.
Miss Rebecca Lane's brother begs her to go to nearby Swanford Abbey, a medieval monastery turned grand hotel rumored to be haunted. She agrees to stay at the abbey until she can deliver his manuscript to a fellow guest who might help him get published-- an author who once betrayed them. At the Abbey, Rebecca sees a figure in a hooded black gown gliding silently through the abbey's cloisters at night. And she encounters Sir Frederick-- baronet, magistrate, and former neighbor-- who long ago broke her heart. When the famous author is found dead, Sir Frederick discovers that several people held grudges against the author-- including Miss Lane and her brother. Searching for answers, As Sir Frederick is torn between his growing feelings for Rebecca and his pursuit of the truth. -- adapted from back cover
