Her vivid, startling, and thrilling tales and poems of the supernatural--from icy- hearted witches to sometimes-innocent shapeshifters-- reveal a classic storyteller at the height of her powers. Welcome to the Midnight Circus--and watch your step. The dark imaginings of fantasy icon Jane Yolen are not for the faint of heart. In these sixteen brilliantly unnerving tales and poems, Central Park becomes a carnival where you can--but probably shouldn't--transform into a wild beast. The Red Sea will be deadly to cross due to a plague of voracious angels. Meanwhile, the South Pole is no place for even a good man, regardless of whether he is living or dead. Wicked, solemn, and chilling, the circus is ready for your visit--just don't arrive late. 650 0 Short stories, American. 650 7 Short stories, American.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01117064 655 7 Fantasy fiction.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01726607 655 7 Science fiction.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01726489 655 7 Short stories.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01726740 655 7 Fairy tales.|2gsafd 655 7 Fantasy fiction.|2gsafd 655 7 Short stories.|2gsafd 655 7 Short stories.|2lcgft 655 7 Fantasy fiction.|2lcgft 655 7 Science fiction.|2lcgft 700 1 Goss, Theodora,|ewriter of introduction. 700 1 Harris, Robert J.,|d1955-|eauthor. 700 1 Stemple, Adam,|eauthor. 700 1 Kontis, Alethea,|ewriter of additional text. 700 12 |iContainer of (work):|aKontis, Alethea.|tFrom the princess to the queen. 938 Brodart|bBROD|n126700877 994 C0|bORL
