Summary Learn about polar bear bodies, habits, and habitats.
Polar bears are enormous, wild, beautiful creatures. Inhabitants of the Arctic, they live in an alien world of freezing temperatures, snow, and ice. Yet they have the same body temperature as our own. They are able to keep warm because of their enormous size and their abundant fat and fur, which insulate and protect them. A gorgeously illustrated nonfiction book about polar bears, this is both factually accurate as well as imaginative, poetic exploration of polar bear bodies, habits, and habitats. This is a story about polar bears that engages the reader's interest in amazing facts, while filling them with a deep sense of wonder. -- Publisher description
